AMA: Motor Voltage and Current settings incorrect
Danfoss · VLT HVAC Drive High Power
What does 51 mean?
The settings for motor voltage, motor current, and motor power (parameters 1-20 to 1-25) are incorrect or inconsistent, preventing the Automatic Motor Adaptation (AMA) from running accurately. Using incorrect motor data will result in suboptimal drive performance and potentially damage to the motor or drive.
Common Causes
- Motor nominal voltage (P1-20) does not match the actual motor or supply voltage.
- Motor nominal current (P1-24) is significantly different from the motor nameplate FLA.
- Motor nominal power (P1-22) is inconsistent with the entered voltage and current settings.
- Incorrect motor frequency (P1-23) or motor nominal speed (P1-25) for the connected motor.
- Discrepancy between motor type (e.g., induction vs. permanent magnet) and parameter settings.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
1. Verify Parameter P1-20 (Motor Voltage) matches the motor nameplate voltage rating.
- 2
2. Confirm Parameter P1-24 (Motor Current) matches the motor nameplate Full Load Amps (FLA).
- 3
3. Cross-reference Parameter P1-22 (Motor Power) for consistency with P1-20 and P1-24.
- 4
4. Ensure Parameter P1-23 (Motor Frequency) is set correctly (e.g., 50Hz or 60Hz) for the motor.
- 5
5. Confirm Parameter P1-25 (Motor Nominal Speed) matches the motor nameplate RPM at nominal frequency.
