WARNING 200

Fire Mode

Danfoss · VLT HVAC Basic FC 101

What does WARNING 200 mean?

The frequency converter has been activated into 'Fire Mode'. This mode forces the drive to continue operation even under fault conditions to maintain critical systems (e.g., smoke extraction fans) during an emergency. Be aware that this overrides normal safety shutdowns.

Common Causes

  • Activation of a dedicated digital input configured for 'Fire Mode' (e.g., Parameter P6-10 'Digital Input X' set to 'Fire Mode Enable').
  • External command from a Building Management System (BMS) or fire alarm control panel triggering the Fire Mode digital input.
  • Faulty wiring (e.g., short circuit to 24VDC) or a malfunctioning sensor/relay connected to the Fire Mode digital input, causing unintended activation.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify the specific digital input assigned to 'Fire Mode Enable' by reviewing relevant parameters (e.g., P6-10 through P6-15).

  2. 2

Verify the electrical status of the identified digital input at the drive's terminal block (e.g., terminal DI1 for P6-10); ensure it is not erroneously activated (e.g., 24VDC present).

  3. 3

Trace the wiring from the Fire Mode digital input back to its originating source (e.g., BMS relay, fire panel output) and check for continuity or voltage anomalies.

  4. 4

If Fire Mode activation is unintended, consult the responsible BMS or fire system administrator to confirm no active fire alarm signal is present.
