Hardware mismatch

Danfoss · VLT AutomationDrive FC 301/302

What does 15 mean?

A fitted option card is not fully operational or compatible with the present control card hardware or software version. This incompatibility prevents the drive from functioning correctly with the installed option.

Common Causes

  • Option card (e.g., fieldbus, I/O) firmware version is incompatible with the main control card's firmware version.
  • Incorrect option card type installed (e.g., wrong part number) for the specific drive model or control card slot.
  • Control card hardware revision (e.g., MCB 101 Rev 1.0) does not support the features or type of installed option card.
  • Software configuration error where the drive expects a different option card than what is physically present.
  • Corrupted firmware on either the control card or the option card requiring re-flashing using appropriate tools.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Power down the drive and physically remove all option cards from their slots.

  2. 2

Power up the drive; if the fault clears, then an option card is the cause.

  3. 3

Identify the part number and firmware version of the installed option card(s) and the main control card.

  4. 4

Compare the option card compatibility matrix in the drive's manual with the installed cards' versions.

  5. 5

Update the firmware of the control card or option card to a compatible version using the manufacturer's software tool (e.g., MCT 10).

  6. 6

Ensure parameter 15-00 (Option Card Detected) accurately reflects the installed hardware.
