Incompat MCB- PB
Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750
What does 106 mean?
The main control board (MCB) did not recognize the power structure (PB), indicating a firmware or hardware incompatibility, or a communication issue between the two boards. This prevents proper drive initialization and operation. The drive will not be able to function until the firmware revisions are harmonized.
Common Causes
- Firmware version mismatch between the main control board (MCB) and the power board (PB).
- Improper seating or connection of the main control board to the power board backplane connector.
- Damage to the backplane communication pins or connectors between the MCB and PB.
- Installation of an incompatible main control board model or series with the existing power board.
- Internal power board communication circuit failure or defective identification module.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
1. Verify that the main control board (MCB) is correctly seated and fully engaged into its slot on the power board backplane.
- 2
2. Carefully inspect for any visible damage, bent pins, or debris on the backplane connector between the MCB and PB.
- 3
3. Compare the firmware versions of both the MCB and PB using programming software (e.g., DriveTools SP); update to compatible versions if necessary.
- 4
4. Confirm the compatibility of the installed MCB with the specific power board model number and revision using product documentation.
- 5
5. If physical connection and compatibility are confirmed, consider replacing the main control board (MCB); if the fault persists, replace the power board (PB).
