What does F064 mean?

This fault indicates that the drive's internal thermal model has detected a prolonged current draw exceeding its rated capacity, typically occurring under high load conditions. Continuous operation in an overload state will reduce the lifespan of the drive, generate excessive heat, and potentially damage internal components. This often signals that the drive is undersized for the application or there's an issue with the mechanical system.

Common Causes

  • Motor operating under continuous heavy load, causing the drive to supply current above its rated output for an extended period.
  • Insufficient cooling for the drive due to blocked ventilation, dirty heatsink fins, or a failed cooling fan, leading to premature thermal tripping.
  • Ambient temperature exceeding the drive's specified operating range, reducing its current derating capacity.
  • Drive sized incorrectly for the application, where the motor's full load current consistently approaches or exceeds the drive's continuous current rating.
  • Poor input power quality causing excessive DC bus ripple and increased drive losses (e.g., high harmonics, voltage imbalance).
