4069

Autotuning doesn't support motor type

ABB · ACS850 Standard Program Firmware

What does 4069 mean?

The selected autotuning procedure is not compatible with the motor type currently configured in the drive. This indicates a mismatch between the motor data and the desired autotuning function, preventing the tuning process from completing.

Common Causes

  • Autotuning routine intended for asynchronous motors is selected, but a synchronous motor (e.g., P1-01=2 for PM motor) is configured.
  • Conversely, an autotuning routine for synchronous motors is selected with an asynchronous motor configured (e.g., P1-01=0 for ACIM).
  • Motor type selection parameter (e.g., P1-01) is incorrectly set for the physically connected motor.
  • Drive firmware version is outdated and does not support specific motor types or autotuning features for the installed hardware.
  • Autotuning function (e.g., P0-10) is set to an unsupported mode for the chosen motor type.

Repair Steps & Checklist

Click steps to track your progress.

  1. 1

Identify the exact motor type (e.g., Asynchronous AC Induction Motor, Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) from its nameplate or datasheet.

  2. 2

Verify and correct the motor type selection parameter (e.g., P1-01) in the drive configuration to match the identified motor type.

  3. 3

Select the appropriate autotuning procedure from the drive's menu or parameter set (e.g., select 'ACIM Rotor ID' for induction motors, 'PM Motor ID' for synchronous motors).

  4. 4

Check the drive's firmware version (e.g., P0-99) against the manufacturer's release notes for compatibility with specific motor types and autotuning features.

  5. 5

If using a custom motor, ensure that all required motor model parameters (e.g., P2-01 to P2-08) are manually entered and verified before attempting autotuning.
