Overtorque Fault

Schneider Electric · Altivar 212 Variable Speed Drive

Was bedeutet Ot ?

This fault occurs when the estimated motor torque has continuously exceeded the configured [Overtorque level] (F616) for a duration longer than the set [Ovtorque det time] (F618). This indicates a significant mechanical overload on the motor or the connected machinery. Ignoring this fault can lead to severe damage to the motor windings, mechanical components, or drive internal circuitry due to sustained excessive current draw and heat generation. The drive stops operation upon detection to prevent further damage.

Häufige Ursachen

  • Mechanical jamming or obstruction within the driven load (e.g., conveyor belt jam, pump impeller blockage).
  • Excessive load applied to the motor beyond its rated capacity or the drive's configured limits (e.g., increased material viscosity, overloaded machine).
  • Drive braking ramp time (e.g., F206) set too short for the connected load inertia, causing excessive motor regeneration and current spikes.
  • Incorrect motor data parameters (e.g., F101, F102, F103) entered into the drive, leading to inaccurate torque estimation.
  • Worn mechanical components (e.g., bearings, gears) increasing friction and required torque for operation.

Reparaturschritte & Checkliste

Klicken Sie auf Schritte, um Ihren Fortschritt zu verfolgen.

  1. 1

Physically inspect the driven machine for mechanical obstructions, material accumulation, or binding parts.

  2. 2

Verify drive parameters F101 (Motor rated current), F102 (Motor rated speed), and F103 (Motor rated voltage) match the motor nameplate data exactly.

  3. 3

Measure actual motor current at terminals U, V, W during operation and compare to the drive's display and parameter F101.

  4. 4

Increase Overtorque detection level (F616) by 5-10% above normal operating torque, and/or increase Overtorque detection time (F618) by 0.5-1.0 seconds if the mechanical system can tolerate brief overloads.

  5. 5

Check the mechanical system for worn bearings or gearboxes by manually turning the shaft and listening for unusual noises or feeling resistance.
