A significant unbalance in the line voltages or currents across the three phases has been detected. This condition can cause excessive heating and stress on the motor and soft starter, leading to reduced lifespan and premature failure.

• Unbalanced utility supply voltage (e.g., significant voltage difference between L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L1).
• Loose or high-resistance connection in one or more incoming line phases (e.g., faulty breaker contact, corroded terminal, undersized feeder cable).
• Motor winding fault (e.g., partial short, open circuit in one phase) leading to unbalanced currents.
• Failure of one or more SCRs (Silicon Controlled Rectifiers) within the soft starter's power section.
• Incorrect soft starter parameter setting for phase unbalance trip level (e.g., P6-03 set too low for typical utility fluctuations).

   1. Measure the incoming line voltages (L1-L2, L2-L3, L3-L1) at the soft starter's input terminals; calculate voltage unbalance (e.g., % Unbalance = (Max Deviation from Avg / Avg Voltage) * 100).

   2. Measure the motor phase currents (U, V, W) at the soft starter's output terminals during operation and check for significant differences (e.g., >5% deviation).

   3. Inspect all input and output power connections (L1, L2, L3, T1, T2, T3) for tightness, corrosion, or signs of overheating.
