PT100

PT100 Motor Temperature Fault

Omron · SXF Inverter

Was bedeutet PT100 ?

This fault indicates that the PT100 temperature sensor connected to the motor has detected an over-temperature condition or a sensor malfunction (e.g., open circuit, short circuit). This is a critical protective measure for the motor, signaling that its temperature has exceeded safe limits. Prolonged overheating can lead to irreversible damage to motor windings and insulation, resulting in motor failure.

Häufige Ursachen

  • Open circuit in the PT100 sensor wiring (e.g., broken wire, loose terminal connection at motor or VSD).
  • Short circuit in the PT100 sensor wiring (e.g., damaged insulation, wire-to-wire contact).
  • Failure of the PT100 sensor element itself (e.g., internal damage, degradation of resistance).
  • Motor over-temperature condition exceeding the VSD's programmed PT100 trip threshold (e.g., P1-55).
  • Incorrect PT100 input configuration in the VSD (e.g., wrong analog input selected, scaling error, disabled sensor).

Reparaturschritte & Checkliste

  1. 1

Verify PT100 sensor wiring connections at the motor terminal box and VSD input terminals (e.g., AI3, AI4). Check for tight connections.

  2. 2

Measure the resistance of the PT100 sensor at its terminals. Expected values: 100 Ohms at 0°C, increasing linearly with temperature (e.g., 107.79 Ohms at 20°C).

  3. 3

Disconnect the PT100 sensor wires from the VSD. Connect a precision resistor (e.g., 100 Ohm, 120 Ohm) to the VSD input to simulate temperatures.

  4. 4

Confirm the motor's actual temperature using a thermal camera or contact thermometer. Compare to the VSD's PT100 trip setting (P1-55).

  5. 5

Check VSD parameters P1-53 (Sensor Type = PT100) and P1-55 (PT100 Trip Temperature) are correctly configured.
