IPM OverCurrent

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 750

Was bedeutet 35 ?

The current magnitude has exceeded the trip level set by P1640 [IPM Max Cur], as detected by the Intelligent Power Module (IPM). This fault protects the drive from severe damage due to excessive current. If persistent, it strongly indicates an overload, a short circuit condition in the motor or wiring, or an incorrect setting of P1640.

Häufige Ursachen

  • Sudden increase in motor load beyond the drive's current capability (e.g., severe mechanical jam or obstruction).
  • Short circuit between motor phases or from a motor phase to ground in the motor or motor cable.
  • Rapid acceleration or deceleration with incorrect ramp times (e.g., P400 [Accel Time 1], P401 [Decel Time 1]).
  • Incorrect motor parameters entered into the drive (P2-xx) leading to poor motor model and control.
  • Faulty Intelligent Power Module (IPM) or current sensing circuit within the drive.

Reparaturschritte & Checkliste

Klicken Sie auf Schritte, um Ihren Fortschritt zu verfolgen.

  1. 1

    1. Disconnect motor power cable from drive output terminals (U, V, W) and test for phase-to-phase and phase-to-ground shorts in the motor and cable using a megohmmeter (e.g., 500VDC).

  2. 2

    2. Verify that motor nameplate parameters (P2-01 to P2-05) are accurately programmed into the drive.

  3. 3

    3. Inspect the mechanical load for any binding, obstruction, or excessive friction that could cause an overcurrent.

  4. 4

    4. Increase P400 (Accel Time 1) and P401 (Decel Time 1) to reduce current transients if mechanical conditions permit.

  5. 5

    5. Monitor the actual output current (e.g., 'A0-04') during operation to identify when the overcurrent occurs.

  6. 6

    6. If no external cause is found and the fault persists with the motor disconnected, replace the drive's power section or the entire drive.
