Diag 2 Flash 3

Error at Output 3

Beckhoff · EL2904 TwinSAFE Fail-Safe Output Terminal

What does Diag 2 Flash 3 mean?

An error has occurred specifically at digital output 3. This can be caused by faulty test pulses (due to external supply or cross-circuit), high capacitive coupling from parallel cables, an actuator current outside the 20 mA to 500 mA range, or a short-circuit/voltage drop at the output. If left unresolved, output 3 may not function safely or correctly, potentially affecting the connected safety function.

Additional Steps

Steps 1–2 are listed in Priority Fix.

  1. 3

Ensure the connected actuator's current consumption for output 3 is within the specified range of 20 mA to 500 mA; select an appropriate actuator if necessary.

  2. 4

Check output 3 for short-circuits or excessive voltage drops in the supply lines; resolve any short-circuits and design the power supply to prevent drops.

  3. 5

Take suitable EMC measures if electromagnetic interference is suspected to be a contributing factor. If the issue persists, replace the terminal.
