DSI Comm Loss
Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 520-series Adjustable Frequency AC Drive
What does F081 mean?
Communications between the drive and the Modbus or DSI master device have been interrupted. This is a specific loss of data exchange over the serial DSI link, preventing the drive from receiving commands or sending status, which can cause it to fault or stop. The drive's response is governed by parameter C125 [Comm Loss Action].
Additional Steps
Steps 1–2 are listed in Priority Fix.
- 3
Verify the Modbus or DSI setting parameters (e.g., address, baud rate, parity) in the drive and the master device are correctly configured and match.
- 4
Check the Modbus or DSI status from the master device or a diagnostic tool to confirm communication health.
- 5
Consider modifying parameter C125 [Comm Loss Action] to adjust the drive's behavior upon communication loss (e.g., coast, ramp to stop, continue last command).
