F81

Communication Loss

Allen-Bradley · PowerFlex 40 Adjustable Frequency AC Drive

What does F81 mean?

This fault indicates a loss of communication with the drive's control source, possibly due to an adapter disconnection, wiring issue, or a communication timeout. This fault's action (fault, stop, continue) can be configured by A105.

Additional Steps

Steps 1–2 are listed in Priority Fix.

  1. 3

If an adapter was intentionally disconnected, turn off the fault action by setting A105 [Comm Loss Action] to a value other than “Fault” (0).

  2. 4

Replace wiring, port expander, adapters, or the complete drive as required if communication issues persist after checking connections.
