External Input Channel Fault
Allen-Bradley · Compact 5000 I/O Analog Modules
What does Flashing red (Input Module) mean?
An external condition has caused a fault on an input channel. This can manifest as an input signal that is overrange or underrange, a disconnected input wire (Open Wire), or an issue with the SA bus power. This indicates an issue with the input signal source, wiring, or auxiliary power for the input channel.
Common Causes
- The input signal is outside the configured overrange or underrange limits.
- A wire is disconnected from the input channel (Open Wire condition).
- SA bus power, if used, is not available or is incorrect.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Measure the input signal to determine if its value is outside the configured range limits.
- 2
Modify the input signal source or adjust the signal range settings in the Logix Designer application project to bring the signal within limits.
- 3
Check the wiring at the input channel for integrity and proper connection.
- 4
Check the SA connector (on 5069-AEN2TR adapter or 5069-FPD module) for the presence of 24VDC power; if absent, troubleshoot the SA power connection.
