NoLoad
No Load Condition
Allen-Bradley · Compact 5000 Digital I/O Modules
What does NoLoad mean?
This condition exists when an output is commanded ON but no load current is detected, or the load device is disconnected. It is a diagnostic for standard output modules and can trigger a general 'Fault' tag. The tag automatically resets to 0 when the condition is removed.
Common Causes
- Load device is disconnected or not present at the output point
- Break in the wiring between the module output and the load device
- Load device failure (e.g., burned out coil, open circuit)
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Verify the load device connected to the output point is physically present and appears functional.
- 2
Measure the current draw at the output terminal when the output is commanded ON — expect current matching the load's rated value.
- 3
Check the continuity of the load circuit from the module output terminal through the load and back to the common connection.
