Enable debug OFF
Project Download Failure - Debug Parameter OFF
ABB · AC500
What does Enable debug OFF mean?
During project download to the safety CPU, the download process may stall at 0 bytes or an error message might appear because the "Enable debug" parameter was incorrectly set to "OFF" for the safety CPU configuration and then downloaded to the non-safety CPU.
Common Causes
- The "Enable debug" parameter within the safety CPU's properties in the PLC project was inadvertently set to "OFF".
- A previous download or change overwrote the debug parameter setting without it being re-enabled.
- Configuration mismatch where the online CPU expects debug to be enabled for download, but the project specifies it as "OFF".
- Corrupted project settings on the engineering station causing the "Enable debug" parameter to be incorrectly interpreted during download.
Repair Steps & Checklist
Click steps to track your progress.
- 1
Open the safety CPU's properties in the PLC programming software (e.g., TIA Portal).
- 2
Navigate to the "Protection & Security" or "Debug Settings" section and set the "Enable debug" parameter to "ON".
- 3
Compile and re-download the entire safety PLC project to the safety CPU.
- 4
Verify that the CPU transitions to RUN mode after the download without further errors.
